  • Farmers in developing countries need Rural Advisory Services(RAS) â??activities that empower them with knowledge,strengthen their capacity, and promote innovation. This need isparticularly acute for agroforestry practices, which are typicallyknowledge-intensive, often requiring specialized skills such asraising seedlings in a nursery and pruning trees. Helping farmersaccess the information and services they need is therefore a keypriority in agroforestry and, more generally, programs aimed atimproving rural livelihoods
