  • Diseases are major constraints to groundnut production throughoutthe world. This handbook is designed to assist agricultural researchand extension workers, who may have little formal training in plantpathology, to make tentative diagnosis of diseases of groundnut causedby 29 fungi, 2 bacteria, 11 viruses, a mycoplasma-like organism, 4nematodes, and a parasitic flowering plant. The most characteristicfield symptoms of each disease are illustrated and described. It isemphasized that for confirmation of field diagnosis the assistance ofskilled plant pathologists will be required in most cases
