  • Production and consumption patterns of sorghum and millet in Asia have changedsignificantly in the last decade. While food use is declining, non-food or industrialuses are on the increase. This has implications on crop production and marketingwith the entry of private industry in coarse cereal economies. This paper highlightsthe recent trends in the production, consumption and trade of sorghum and milletand spells out the need for a stronger coalition of sector stakeholders as a way ofdeveloping the non-food market by effectively linking farmers with new sources ofdemand for these crops
