Seasonal differences in iron toxicity tolerance of lowland rice cultivars uri icon

abstract

  • Iron toxicity is a major stress and yieldreducingfactor in irrigated and rainfedlowlands in West Africa. Varietaltolerance is the most practical and costeffectivemeans of reducing irontoxicity in iron-toxic soils. We havebeen evaluating lowland rice cultivarsfor iron toxicity tolerance at Korhogo,Côte d?Ivoire, a site with a consistentand high iron toxicity pressure onplants. Because irrigation water isavailable, it was possible to evaluategermplasm in both the wet and dryseasons
