Stability of Pod Yield in Foliar Disease-Resistant Groundnut Varieties uri icon

abstract

  • Information on genotype × environment interaction is derived from data on pod yield in 33 groundnut varieties tolerant of rust (Puccinia arachidis) and late leaf spot (Phaeoisariopsis personata (Mycosphaerella berkeleyi)), the resistant line ICG1697 (NC Ac 17090) and the susceptible cultivar JL24, grown at 7 international sites between 1987 and 1989. There were significant differences among genotypes and environments for disease resistance, but the genotype × environment interaction was not significant. For pod yield, variances among genotypes, environment and genotype × environment interactions were highly significant. ICGV87169 was stable and high-yielding, with a mean pod yield of 1822 kg/ha
